How to troubleshoot your telephone line

If you’re having problems with your telephone line, whether a noisy line or you have no dial tone, use the following quick tests to help identify where your problem lies.

Please carry out the testing as per our guide on how to test your telephone line and see if the telephone line issue is still present. We ask that you complete this testing to avoid charges from BT.

You may also want to view the following YouTube video ‘How To Fix your TELEPHONE LINE, landline phone FAULT finding and REPAIR’. The segment from 5 mins to 7 mins of the video covers connecting into your test socket.

We can arrange for fault to be placed out with BT Openreach to investigate the problem. However, if an engineer attends your home location and is able to run a clear line test from the test socket of your premises and/or proves the fault to be with your equipment then you will be charged £90+VAT for the visit and the first hour of work and £40+VAT for each hour ‘part there of’ thereafter.
