What is voice over IP? (VoIP)
What is VoIP? Voice over IP (VoIP) is a relatively new way to make phone calls which cost less and include clever, flexible features. Whenever you use the internet to call friends, family and colleagues, you’re using VoIP. You can use companies such as Vonage, who put this technology into your regular telephone by linking your phone system with your broadband connection.
VoIP is a system which allows someone to make a phone call using their home phone but over an internet based connection rather than using the land line. The benefits of VoIP is of course you avoid using a landline meaning you can save money on paying for line rental. Most VoIP companies will simply just charge you monthly for a call package very similar to a call package which you get from a traditional phone line company.
